Greetings, dear friends! Can you believe it? It's May already! Besides being Spring in North America and Europe, when the 'spring thaw' is taking place and the earth is beginning to blossom and bloom with new life, May is also when we celebrate our mothers. So I want to say "Happy Mother's Day!" to all you mothers, grandmothers, expectant mothers, and special friends whom we've 'adopted' as mothers. I'm sorry I wasn't able to release an April newsletter while I was visiting in the States. I tried, but my efforts were severely frustrated and hampered by my not having a computer most of the time. But I'm back in India now and ready to pursue and share with you those things which God has laid on my heart for this ministry. Yep! Just when I got nice and comfortable in my ministry and thought I knew where we were going, God takes off running in a new direction! Ain't that just like our God?! He'll take us as we are; but He's not content to leave us there.... God has laid it on my heart to start learning and teaching about His NAMES, to share that there's great power, authority, victory, and peace in His Names — in knowing His Names and using His Names (with all reverence, of course!). So starting with this newsletter, I'll be sharing with you on a monthly basis what I've learned during my own personal expedition into drawing closer to God through His Names. I pray you'll also enjoy the stories, articles, cartoons, and humorous tid-bits in this month's newsletter. Be blessed in Jesus' name, and remember: The Christian life is not what we do for God, but what God does for us! Your sister & servant in Christ, My Redeemer Lives Christian Ministry |

"Let them praise the name of the LORD: for His Name alone is excellent; His glory [is] above the earth and heaven." (Psalm 148:13) Isn't God's name "God" or "Lord" or "Lord Almighty"? No, "God" and "Lord" are not His name; they are titles. The God of the Bible — the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (later changed by God to Israel) — is the God of many gods, the Lord of many lords. What difference does it make what name I use? In the Bible, a name was more than just a label; it was an identity, a selfness, an exactness. For example...
As you get to know God by His names, your view of Him will change. He will become bigger, more majestic, more holy, more able to meet every one of your deepest needs, and more worthy of your heartfelt devotion and worship. Who is God to you? Is He El Elyon, the Most High God... is He Yahweh Rohi, your Shepherd... Yahweh Rophe, your Healer... Yahweh Tsid'ke-nu, your Righteousness... Yaweh Jireh, the Lord Who Provides? God knows each of us by name. Shouldn't we know Him by His? Hallowed be Your name? "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name..." (Matthew 6:9) To hallow God's name means to set it apart, to exalt it as being worthy of absolute devotion and reverence.

"I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice." 2 Timothy 1:5 A talented stay-at-home mother wrote a delightful essay in which she vividly describes (without complaining) the frustrations, sacrifices, and loneliness that accompany her chosen lifestyle. It's not glamorous to deal with a fussy 18-month-old and a pushy 5-year-old, and to listen to the incessant chatter of small children. Yet she concludes that her role is indispensable for the total well-being of her children. How true! The importance of a godly mother's role in the life of a child cannot be overemphasized. Think of Timothy, for example, the young man the apostle Paul considered his spiritual son and a valuable partner in ministry. In his second letter to him, Paul recalled how Timothy had been influenced by "the genuine faith" of his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice. God used two generations of loving mothers to prepare Timothy for the crucial work he would have in spreading the gospel and establishing congregations of believers in Christ. Let's praise the Lord for mothers who not only care for their children physically, but also nurture them spiritually. Mothers like that are indispensable! God has conferred on motherhood A true nobility, And she who gladly fills that role Can shape man's destiny. D. De Haan No man is poor who has had a godly mother. Editor's Note: This article is rather lengthy, but I believe you'll be amused and blessed by it. John the Baptist saw a dove and believed. James Whittaker saw a sea gull and believed. Who's to say the one who sent the first didn't send the second? James Whittaker was a member of the handpicked crew that flew the B-17 Flying Fortress captained by Eddie Rickenbacker. Anybody who remembers October of 1942 remembers the day Rickenbacker and his crew were reported lost at sea. Somewhere over the Pacific, out of radio range, the plane ran out of fuel and crashed into the ocean. The nine men spent the next month floating in three rafts. They battled the heat, the storms, and the water. Sharks, some ten feet long, would ram their nine-foot boats. After only eight days their rations were eaten or destroyed by saltwater. It would take a miracle to survive. One morning after their daily devotions, Rickenbacker leaned his head back against the raft and pulled his hat over his eyes. A bird landed on his head. He peered out from under his hat. Every eye was on him. He instinctively knew it was a sea gull. Rickenbacker caught it, and the crew ate it. The bird's intestines were used for bait to catch fish . . . and the crew survived to tell the story. A story about a stranded crew with no hope or help in sight. A story about prayers offered and prayers answered. A story about a visitor from an unknown land traveling a great distance to give his life as a sacrifice. A story of salvation. A story much like our own. Weren't we, like the crew, stranded? Weren't we, like the crew, praying? And weren't we, like the crew, rescued by a visitor we've never seen through a sacrifice we'll never forget? The real miracle...was not a bird on the head of Eddie Rickenbacker but a change in the heart of James Whittaker. The greatest event of that day was not the rescue of a crew but the rescue of a soul. James Whittaker was an unbeliever. The plane crash didn't change his unbelief. The days facing death didn't cause him to reconsider his destiny. In fact...[James]...grew irritated with John Bartak, a crew member who continually read his Bible privately and aloud. But his protests didn't stop Bartak from reading. Nor did Whittaker's resistance stop the Word from penetrating his soul. Unknown to Whittaker, the soil of his heart was being plowed. For it was one morning after a Bible reading that the sea gull landed on Captain Rickenbacker's head. And at that moment Jim became a believer. Isn't that just like God? Who would go to such extremes to save a soul? Such an effort to get a guy's attention. The rest of the world is occupied with Germany and Hitler. Every headline is reporting the actions of Roosevelt and Churchill. The globe is locked in a battle for freedom . . . and the Father is in the Pacific sending a missionary pigeon to save a soul. Oh, the lengths to which God will go to get our attention and win our affection! "In the Eye of the Storm" © Copyright 1991. Word, Inc. Back to top |

Thinking about the Rain Suddenly, my daughter spoke up from her relaxed position in her seat. "Dad, I'm thinking of something." This announcement usually meant she had been pondering some fact for a while, and was now ready to expound all that her six-year-old mind had discovered. I was eager to hear. "What are you thinking?" I asked. "The rain," she began, "is like sin, and the windshield wipers are like God wiping our sins away." After the chill bumps raced up my arms, I was able to respond. "That's really good, Aspen." Then my curiosity broke in. How far would this little girl take this revelation? So I asked, "Do you notice how the rain keeps on coming? What does that tell you?" Aspen didn't hesitate one moment with her answer: "We keep on sinning, and God just keeps on forgiving us." I will always remember this whenever I turn my wipers on. "You mentioned Ravensbruck in your talk," he said. "I was a guard there. I have become a Christian. I know that God has forgiven me for the cruel things I did there, but I would like to hear it from your lips as well." Remembering the humiliation she and her sister had suffered while imprisoned there, Corrie hesitated as he held out his hand and waited for her to grasp it. Her sister had died at Ravensbruck, and now her former enemy was asking for her forgiveness. In her book "Tramp for the Lord", Corrie wrote that she had no other choice but to forgive. Years earlier she had been liberated from physical captivity. Now, as she grasped his outstretched hand, she experienced a different kind of liberation. The Lord gave her the freedom to forgive. We often cannot see how God might be using our misfortunes to accomplish His good purpose. Nevertheless, those who know Jesus Christ as Savior have His promise that, in every circumstance, He is working for our good (Romans 8:28). Do you need to experience the freedom to forgive? First, receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior; then ask Him for the liberty to let Him settle your accounts. Trust Him to judge righteously and to work out His good purpose in your life. © 2005 Moody Bible Institute Back to top |

International Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee." Psalm 122:6 The olive tree has a great spot in history, even in the time of Noah, bringing news of hope and a new beginning to mankind, as when a dove brought to Noah proof of what he was searching for (new life). So this is what the olive tree represents to us: the source of life, hope, and the anointing that can only come from the Holy One of Israel. It is with this vision, then, that a call is made to participate in praying together in one accord, wherever you may be, for the peace of Jerusalem and the return of His people. The olive tree is a symbol of unity as we come together to lift up our voices and pray, just as the Scriptures tell us, and to wait to see the Lord of lords bring His people from the four corners of the earth to The Olive Tree of Zion. and the word off the Lord from Jerusalem." Isaiah 2:3 Hoping for your participation at such a time as this. in any language, wherever you are, all for one purpose TheOliveTreeofZion.com Back to top |
This has to be one of the most successful singles ads ever printed. It is reported to have been listed in the Atlanta Journal. "SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I'm a very good girl who LOVES to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. "I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Call (404) 875-6420 and ask for Daisy. I'll be waiting..." More than 15,000 men called and found themselves talking to the Atlanta Humane Society about an 8-week-old black Labrador retriever. Contributed by Dee Sprague Back to top |

"The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe." Proverbs 18:10 Steve and Anne Seaberry were taken by surprise when awakened by armed robbers in the middle of the night. The Seaberrys watched in disbelief as everything they owned — including their wedding rings - was packed into their own car. As the thieves were preparing to leave, a cocked gun was pointed at the homeowners. When Steve and Anne began repeating aloud the name of Jesus, the bullet immediately fell to the floor, and they were left unharmed. God's sufficient grace was credited for this miraculous event. God doesn't promise to always intervene on our behalf; but if He does, nothing is too hard for Him. We live in a world where danger is about us on every hand. And wise is the Christian who prays with all of his heart every day, "Deliver me from evil, Lord." God is a God who delivers. Isn't that good news? He loves to have His children pray for deliverance. He is a God who sees us in our predicament and delights to deliver us. We can confidently call on His name and trust Him to keep us safe. The promise sees And looks to God alone, Laughs at impossibilities And cries, "It shall be done." Charles Wesley "Grace for the Day" Turning Point Ministries Back to top |

Customer: Hello. I'm not very technical, but I think I am ready to install it now. What do I do first? Customer Service Rep: The first step is to open your HEART. Have you located your HEART, ma'am? Customer: Yes I have, but there are several programs running right now. Is it okay to install while they are running? CS Rep: What programs are running ma'am? Customer: Let me see. I have PASTHURT.EXE, LOWESTEEM.EXE, GRUDGE.EXE and RESENTMENT.COM running right now. CS Rep: No problem. LOVE will automatically erase PASTHURT.EXE from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory, but it will no longer disrupt other programs. LOVE will eventually overwrite LOWESTEEM.EXE with a module of its own called HIGHESTEEM.EXE. However, you have to completely turn off GRUDGE.EXE and RESENTMENT.COM. Those programs prevent LOVE from being properly installed. Can you turn those off ma'am? Customer: I don't know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how? CS Rep: My pleasure. Go to your Start menu and invoke FORGIVENESS.EXE. Do this as many times as necessary until GRUDGE.EXE and RESENTMENT.COM have been completely erased. Customer: Okay, I'm done. LOVE has started installing itself automatically. Is that normal? CS Rep: Yes it is. You should receive a message that says it will reinstall for the life of your HEART. Do you see that message? Customer: Yes I do. Is it completely installed? CS Rep: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need to begin connecting to other HEARTS in order to get the upgrades. Customer: Oops! I have an error message already. What should I do? CS Rep: What does the message say? Customer: It says "ERROR 412 - PROGRAM NOT RUN ON INTERNAL COMPONENTS". What does that mean? CS Rep: Don't worry, ma'am, that's a common problem. It means that the LOVE program is set up to run on external HEARTS but has not yet been run on your HEART. It is one of those complicated programming things, but in non-technical terms, it means you have to "LOVE" your own machine before it can "LOVE" others. Customer: So what should I do? CS Rep: Can you find the directory called "SELF-ACCEPTANCE"? Customer: Yes, I have it. CS Rep: Excellent. Click on the following files and then copy them to the "MYHEART" directory: FORGIVESELF.DOC, SELFESTEEM.TXT, REALIZEWORTH.TXT and GOODNESS.DOC. The system will overwrite any conflicting files and begin patching any faulty programming. Also, you need to delete SELFCRITIC.EXE from all directories and then empty your recycle bin afterwards to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back. Customer: Got it. Hey! My HEART is filling up with really neat files. SMILE.MPG is playing on my monitor right now and it shows that WARMTH.COM, PEACE.EXE, and CONTENTMENT.COM are copying themselves all over my HEART! CS Rep: Then LOVE is installed and running. You should be able to handle it from here. One more thing before I go... Customer: Yes? CS Rep: LOVE is freeware. Be sure to give it and its various modules to everybody you meet. They will in turn share it with other people and they will return some really neat modules back to you. Back to top |

No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats. When your Mom is mad at your Dad, don't let her brush your hair. If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the second person. Never ask your 3-year-old brother to hold a tomato. You can't trust dogs to watch your food. Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair. Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time. You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk. Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts. The best place to be when you're sad is Grandpa's lap. Back to top |
After a considerable time he appeared dishevelled, bloody, and badly beaten up. They all wanted to know what happened. He explained that he went over to the cow pasture but could not find his ball. He noticed a cow wringing her tail in obvious pain. He went over and lifted her tail and saw a golf ball solidly embedded. It was a yellow ball so he knew it was not his. A woman came out of the bushes, apparently searching for her lost golf ball, too. The helpful male golfer lifted the cow's tail and asked, "Does this look like yours?" That's the last thing he could remember. |
